Sepsis is a major concern since it is prevalent in many hospitalizations that result in mortality. Septic shock is the most severe complication of sepsis, which is a reaction to an infection. The majority of sepsis cases appear to occur outside of hospitals, and when patients arrive at emergency departments, their symptoms are varied, making diagnosis and detection difficult. In this issue, Alkhatib and Alkurdi (2025) report various points, including diagnosis and treatment options for septic shock in pediatric emergency departments. Early diagnosis of sepsis is of critical importance for appropriate management, and compliance with sepsis guidelines is associated with improved outcomes of pediatric septic shock. As a result, the sooner sepsis is identified and treatment begins, the better the patient's outcome and the lower the estimated cost to the healthcare system.
